Hair Regiment.. Qu'est-ce que c'est?

Think of your hair regiment as what effort you put into your hair. Currently have you been letting your hair fend for yourself or did you just finish showing your hair you’re in it to win it?

Look, life happens everyday we’re given. There are going to be times where it will take precedence over your hair regiment. That’s alright once you still do what you can to get your hair along. For example, sometimes I miss my co-wash Wednesday. I work a job where 5 pm might be stated as the end of my work day but I found myself home from work at 6:45pm. It’s a no for me these nights because 1. I don’t want to rush through doing my hair and cause breakage but 2. Whenever I do something to my hair I make it the time I can play in my hair and really spend time with it. In this case I will spray my hair with water, add some more leave in and retwist. Once Saturday, my deep condition day comes around I’ll make sure to hit my mark.

Just remember it’s always going to come down to actively listening to your hair and making adjustments when it asks.

I only know that I need two wash days through trial and error. I started out with Saturday wash days only and then when my hair grew some more I was stumped as to WHY my hair didn’t feel right. If you ever feel your hair isn’t at its fullest potential, take a step back to assess why.

Here’s some starter questions:

  1. How often does my hair need to be moisturized?
  2. What do I do to protect my hair from breakage?
  3. What ingredients does my hair love or hate?
  4. What tools do I use to style or dry my hair?

If you need to get a journal or you’re fine with writing a new note on your phone. You need to track what you’ve done for your hair, when it was done and how did it respond. Track what hair products make your hair feel how. This is not guess work, this is consistency and adapting.

When I tried this method I found out anything with aloe will never do me wrong. I then learned marshmallow root is my friend. The list kept building to where, whenever I read a label I can judge from the ingredients if it’s a no or a yes. Those silicones though, I’m trying to get better at recognizing their many names. If you ever read a label and you don’t know what an ingredient is, as tedious as it sounds, google it. You’re always one google search away from locking in one more clutch ingredient or for the better knowing ,nope this ain’t it.

The more you think on what you do for your hair the more your success rate will go up but there’s so much more. I have included 2 sites that can start you on your way to building an amazing hair regiment for yourself.
