Magic Smagic
There’s no magic pill for hair growth or health. Yes I know Biotin is available in stores, yeah and Mane Choice has a hair supplement too. Well my friend, there’s way more to what needs to be done for your hair to grow and be healthy.
I’m not against hair supplements by any means. However, I believe it’s important that everyone has access to the foundation that is needed internally for hair to thrive:
1. Water
We need water in order to function properly, that’s a known thing. The hair supplements that we take need water in order to work properly. Also our scalps can become dehydrated and we already know if our scalp is not happy, say goodbye to your growth. If you’ve been suffering from dry scalp, check in on where your water intake is currently at. Being hydrated on the inside is the foundation you build your outer hair care on.
2.Protein
Our bodies use protein for many reasons that keeps us alive. Building muscle, bones and skin does not get completed without protein. Red blood cells carry a protein that distributes oxygen throughout your body. There are a few more things the body uses protein for but imagine hair growth being on that list. Our bodies were programmed to survive so taking the amount of protein you put in from food to push out new hair growth won’t be at the top of the list. This is why making sure you’re consuming enough protein that your body can function to a point it allows hair growth to have a turn as well. Whether you add in some more protein bars or shakes, your hair will thank you.
3. Eat food that is nutritious
The main way your body gets the vitamins and minerals it needs is through your diet. I know this may be hard. Eating well is expensive and a commitment. After eating what you’re body needs to function for a while, you’ll feel the difference and it makes sense over time to continue on. It’s just getting there.
There are so many resources out there to help with diet whether it’s tracking apps, healthy eating forums, some social media platforms you can find nearby groups by hashtags. Whatever you need to get you eating better go and get it because your hair growth will thank you.
4.Exercise
Yeah, you knew this was next. Look being active is so important because it always comes down to your heart needs to pump blood. An increase in blood circulation means an increase in oxygen that your scalp can snag for your follicles. Working out also is important because it reduces stress. At this point in life I need to get into the gym because it helps me manage myself better mentally. I’m in a better mood or headspace when I’ve gone to the gym in the morning. Not so much of a great headspace when I just rolled out of bed to face the day. Stress means cortisol which means your scalp isn’t going to prioritize hair growth. Sometimes it won’t even prioritize keeping your hair. If you’re not currently, I do hope you consider adding some physical activities for your week.
Whenever you think about hair growth, I want you to think about it as you would gardening. For health hair you have to make sure that you are providing all of the right conditions for your scalp. Your body needs to obtain all of the essential items to make sure it functions before it gives up anything towards your hair. Make sure your scalp keeps receiving what it needs.
Until Next Time
